Lewis and Clark State ParkOn August 10, 1804, the Lewis and Clark Expedition arrived near Onawa, IA, where Lewis and Clark State Park now resides. Finding a picnic spot won’t be a problem here with more than 30 acres equipped with tables, grills, and drinking water. The lodge, constructed in the 1930s, is often used for weddings or large events. The Lewis and Clark campground accommodates its visitors with 100 electrical hook-up and 12 full hook-up campsites along the lake’s shore. Modern facilities are available. The park has wonderful trails leading hikers through its display of flora and fauna. Birdwatchers will be impressed with the array of species available for observation. Blue Lake takes on any motor size to its 250 acres of fun and relaxation. Although a fisheries renovation is taking place now, fishing will become a major attraction here within a few years. Don’t miss the full-size, 55 foot reproduction of Lewis’ and Clark’s keelboat. The “Discovery” was built by volunteers within Lewis and Clark State Park. |
