Kansas City Things To Do

Airline History Museum at Kansas City

Travel back in time to the Golden Age of Aviation, when elegance, barnstorming and acts of derring-do ruled the skies. The impressive collection at the Airline History Museum at Kansas City includes photos, artifacts, uniforms, instruments, log books, personal mementos and more. The museum, located in Hangar 9 at Missouri’s historic Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport, boasts an array of planes that includes a Lockheed L-1049 Super G Constellation, affectionately known as Connie; a Martin 404; and a Douglas DC-3. All of these propeller-driven aircraft have been lovingly restored by a talented pool of aviation enthusiasts and specialists. Some of Kansas City’s other many museums are also well worth a visit. The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum chronicles the life and political career of the 33rd president. And stop by for both a look and a listen at the American Jazz Museum.
