Bighorn River GuidesNestled in the foothills of Montana's Bighorn Mountains, Fort Smith is a small, former cavalry outpost on the Bighorn River, whose sources are in Wyoming and flows northward until it empties into the Yellowstone River. The Bighorn River is known for its tremendous resources of Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout, many of them reaching over 18 inches in length. Fort Smith Fly Shop and Cabins and Bighorn River Guides specialize in guided fishing floats on the Bighorn. Their season generally begins in March and runs through November, although fishing is said to be good year round. A typical day starts off with breakfast and a brief discussion of your goals and expectations. A drift boat transports you down the river to the prime locations. Guide trips are geared to your level of fly fishing experience, and instruction is provided on where the fish are holding and why, as well as techniques, tactics and correct presentation. |
