Ice Harbor Dam Visitor Center

Ice Harbor Lock and Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Snake River in Walla Walla and Franklin counties in Washington State. The unique name is from a tiny bay in the river where boats used to tie up and wait for upstream ice-jams to break up. On the South side of the river there is a large visitor center which features a film called "The Snake - River of Life", and offers an interactive touch screen kiosk which displays information on the dam and recreational opportunities available in the vicinity. The visitor center also offers a fish ladder viewing room where you can observe the migration of Salmon, Steelhead and Shad. Lake Sacajawea is formed behind the dam, and stretches to the base of Lower Monumental Dam, 32 miles upstream.
