C.M. Russell Museum

The Old West is still alive at the C.M. Russell Museum, located in the town of Great Falls, Montana. Artist Charles M. Russell captured the landscapes, the culture, and the spirit of the American West as it was during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Russell's subjects were based on western history and his own experience, including cowboys, Plains Indians, and wildlife. You can view the setting where Russel created many of his significant works by stepping over from his home to his log studio, which was built in 1903. The studio is made from western red cedar telephone poles, and is filled with authentic cowboy gear and Indian artifacts that Charles Russell collected and used as he painted or sculpted. The C.M. Russell home is a blue, two-story frame house built in 1900. It is furnished with period pieces as well as items from the Russell family. In its time, it was located in the most fashionable district in Great Falls.
