Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum

The Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center in Stevenson, WA, enables the visitor to visualize and participate in the bountiful life of the Columbia River Gorge. The museum features numerous and varied collections that tell the story of the Columbia River Gorge. Subjects range from tribes that inhabited the region long ago to changes in the river and its wildlife brought on by the construction of power-generating dams. Other exhibits interpret early interactions between indigenous tribes and European explorers, the development of trails used at first to connect trading posts and later by immigrants from the east, and the daily lives of early American settlers. Another exhibit focuses on the development of transportation in the region, including the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railroad, the development of Highway 8, and the era of the paddle steamer.
