Jesse James FarmJesse James died with his boots on. And they can be seen right here at this museum featuring items that once belonged to the legendary outlaw and his family. The Jesse James Farm is home to the family Bible, three of Jesse’s guns, his spurs, and the base and footstone of his tombstone. After browsing the museum, meander through the old log farmhouse in Kearney, Missouri, where Jesse was born. The home, surrounded by trees, still contains furniture, quilts, linen and other items that were once part of the James family’s daily existence. One of the doors is pockmarked with two plugged bullet holes, reportedly fired from inside by Jesse when soldiers tried to arrest him. Outside, to the right of a wooden bridge, is the creek where Jesse and his brother Frank used to go swimming. Elsewhere on the property, a replica of Jesse’s headstone sits at his grave. |
