Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum

Antiques in most museums tend to stay put, but the relics at the Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum still spend some time on the road or in the skies. The treasure trove of restored antique planes and cars are kept in working order, which includes taking them out for an occasional spin. The museum honors early aviators and barnstormers, and explores the history of airmail. Aside from unique and rare planes and automobiles, the museum in Hood River, Oregon, maintains collections of trucks, military jeeps and weapons, propellers, aircraft engines and instruments, and other artifacts. The flying fleet includes a 1917 Curtiss Jenny JN4D and an extensive collection of flying three-cylinder radial engine aircraft. Many early aviation manufacturers are represented, including Waco, Davis, Curtiss-Wright, Travel Air, Piper, Taylorcraft, Spartan, Buhl, Ryan, American Eagle, Lincoln and Arrow. The antique cars include a 1914 Ford Model T depot hack, and early Dodge, Mercury and Studebaker vehicles.
