Mark Youngdahl Urban Conservation AreaThe Mark Youngdahl Urban Conservation Area is located in Missouri and consists of 85 acres of openland and planted trees, prairie grasses and wildflower meadows. There is a small marsh that attracts multiple forms of wildlife, such as waterfowl, turtles and amphibians. There are three loop hiking trails that take visitors throughout the area, two of which are accessible to disabled visitors and bicycles are allowed on the trails as well. Resident wildlife includes white-tailed deer, foxes, opossums, raccoons, rabbits, quail and many species of birds. There are opportunities for bird watching and occasional wildlife viewing, and many species of trees have been planted in the area to demonstrate trees that are typically planted in cities and towns, and tree identification booklets are available. There are also two picnic pavilions, with tables, grills, and restrooms. |
