Harrison County Historical Village & Welcome CenterThis rustic place started out as a log cabin with a few cases of artifacts. Now it’s a small village with more than 10,000 items on display. In addition to the original two-story 1853 log cabin, visitors can tour a country store, school, chapel, medical building, jail and blacksmith shop. The Harrison County Historical Village & Welcome Center, which provides information to tourists traveling through Iowa’s Missouri Valley, displays Indian and Civil War artifacts, firearms, pioneer equipment, tools and Masonic memorabilia. Elsewhere in Missouri Valley, capture the beauty of snow and blue geese and other migratory waterfowl at the Desoto National Wildlife Refuge. And they’re not alone. Sharing their space are deer, cottontails, raccoons, coyotes, possums, beavers and muskrats. And there’s a shopping oasis at the Missouri Valley Antique Arts and Craft Mall, featuring 60 dealers with collectibles of furniture, quilts, toys, stoneware, and the largest assortment of antique reference books in the Midwest. |
