Seeley Lake Things To Do

Placid Lake State Park

Placid Lake State Park is located in the gorgeous Clearwater/Swan River Valley of Montana. Its smooth waters provide for great water sports and fishing. The park’s 32 acres was donated in 1977 to honor three foresters lost in a plane crash. Placid Lake State Park features two public access sites to Placid Lake. As you explore this scenic delight, watch for the rich variety of wildlife and note the interpretive panels that describe the early logging practices indicated by the large western larch tree stumps in the area. Bird watching is a favorite activity with many opportunities to sight a variety of species including common loons and osprey. The park provides for tent and RV camping with 41 sites each including a picnic table and a fire grate. The campgrounds are conveniently located near to the lake. Boating on Placid Lake is quite the treat, and many bring their personal watercraft to cruise its quiet waters. Placid Lake State Park is truly a perfect place for a vacation in the solace of nature.
