Beavertail Hill State ParkBeavertail Hill State Park, located 26 miles east of Missoula in the state of Montana, was named for the hill to its west. The hill was once reminiscent of a giant resting beaver until the interstate cut the tail in half. The park’s property provides 65 acres with a handicap accessible nature trail, fishing, boating access, and a half mile stretch of Clark Fork River frontage. Beavertail Hill State Park’s campgrounds feature 28 tent and RV camping sites that each include a picnic table and fire grate. Just north of the park, the “Old Milwaukee” is a now abandoned historic railroad that once operated across ten thousand miles of track in a dozen states. Wildlife viewing is popular in the park; moose, nighthawks, and great horned owls are some of the favorite species spotted in the park. The Clark Fork River provides excellent fishing for rainbow and brown trout as well as other coldwater species. Enjoy the day or stay for a vacation in this wondrous riparian environment at Beavertail Hill State Park. |
