Hells Gate State Park

Hells Gate State Park, located just 4 miles south of Lewiston, opens up the way to Idaho’s Lewis and Clark backcountry as well as Hells Canyon (the deepest river gorge on the continent). The park is populated by a wide range of fascinating creatures including Chukar hawks, pelicans, herons, and bighorn sheep. Both bird watching and wildlife observation are favorite pastimes of the park’s visitors. Water sports enthusiasts will find that the Snake River is perfect for jet boats, power boats, and water skiing. The Hells Gate Marina provides more than 100 slips with fuel and moorage. The Snake, Salmon, and Clearwater rivers are world renown to anglers for the great catches available in their waters. The Lewis and Clark Discovery Center features educational exhibits and an outdoor interpretive plaza covering the Corps of Discovery Expedition and Hells Canyon.
