Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge

Situated along the 320 miles of the Oregon coast, the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of the large rocks, reefs, islands and headland areas that are just off the coast within the Pacific Ocean. There are thirteen species of seabirds that nest within this refuge, as well as California and Steller sea lions, harbor seals and Northern elephant seals that use the area for breeding. The area is closed to the public, except for the one acre Tillamook Rock and Lighthouse, but there are numerous locations along the Oregon coast where the spectacular views and wildlife can be enjoyed. The mainland unit of the Oregon Islands NWR, Coquille Point, is located in Bandon, Oregon and is a great place to explore the beach, while also viewing the many seabirds and harbor seals.
