Cape Disappointment State ParkCape Disappointment State Park, formerly Fort Canby State Park, is located two miles southwest of Ilwaco, WA. The park’s 1,882 acres include campgrounds and 27 miles of ocean beach on the Long Beach Peninsula. Both the North Head and Cape Disappointment lighthouses stand on its splendid shores. Sitting on the edge of a cliff, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center looks over a 200 ft. drop. The center features stories of the Corps of Discovery journey from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean. Seven miles of hiking trails allow visitors to explore the landscape and wildlife of this exceptional park. There is one boat ramp provided on a lake for freshwater fishing, while saltwater fishing is also available. Clamming and crabbing are popular activities at Cape Disappointment State Park. Three vacation rentals allow for a more luxurious stay and there are 20 picnic sites scattered about the park for your enjoyment. This glorious stretch of land is sure not to disappoint! |
