Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge

The Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge spans Oregon and Washington, as well as the Columbia River. The refuge is divided into six units and contains a mix of seasonal wetlands, shallow marsh, cropland, islands, shrub-steppe upland, sloughs and open water. The area is a key habitat for migrating and resident birds, waterfowl and wildlife, including bald eagles, Arctic geese and ducks, and more. Visitors can enjoy observing and photographing wildlife and the 150,000 ducks and 30,000 Canada geese that use the area for migrating and wintering. There is an observation tower, photo blind, auto tour route and nature trail for wildlife viewing opportunities. There are also areas where visitors can hike, bike, horseback ride, fish, and hunt.
