Beaverhead National Forest

The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is located in the northern Rocky Mountains of Montana. It is the largest national forest in Montana, spanning 3.35 million acres and crossing across eight counties. The forest offers spectacular scenery, a vast variety of recreational opportunities, and also provides timber, minerals and grazing lands. Recreational options include hiking, fishing, picnicking, taking a scenic drive or off-road experience, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and more. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail and Nez Perce Historic Trail pass through the forest. The ghost towns of Elkhorn, Granite, and Coolidge provide opportunities for exploring the historic past. The Sheepshead Recreation Area and Georgetown Lake offer scenic views and additional recreational choices. There is plenty to do and see within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.
