Lee Metcalf National Wildlife RefugeSet in the shadows of the majestic mountains in western Montana is the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is located within the beautiful Bitterroot Valley, along the Bitterroot River. The area offers a habitat for many forms of wildlife and migratory birds. Visitors to the refuge can enjoy plenty of opportunities for wildlife observation and photography, as well as hiking, fishing and hunting. There are 2 ½ miles of nature trails that take visitors through meadows and along the Bitterroot River, where there are spectacular views of nature and many forms of wildlife. There is also an auto route through the refuge that provides great viewing opportunities as well. There are locations available for catch and release fishing, waterfowl hunting and archery deer hunting. Numerous educational programs are also offered. |
