Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Northern Unit

Theodore Roosevelt National Park is exceptional badland territory located in Medora, ND and the geological importance of these landforms is enjoyed by its visitors and scientists alike. When Theodore Roosevelt bought into the Maltese Cross and Elkhorn cattle ranches on this land, this beautiful stretch of land was graced by history. Backcountry camping is available here; over 50 campground sites are equipped with picnic tables and grills. RV sites are available, too! Hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and horseback riding will keep even the most restless of nature lovers moving through the park’s labyrinth of wildlife and landscape. This is the land where the bison roam and wild horses ride free. Water sports enthusiasts will find everything from canoeing, kayaking, and more. The North Unit Visitor Center is right at the park entrance and has an array of exhibits about the land and history of this wonderful park.
