Klein Museum

Step back into two worlds – the cultures of both pioneers and Native Americans are on display here. At the Klein Museum in Mobridge, South Dakota, headdresses and beadwork of the Sioux tribe is mingled with tools and clothing belonging to early setters. Exhibits are set up much the same way a town would be – there’s a one-room schoolhouse, post office, log cabin, barber shop, trapper’s shack and the offices of both a doctor and dentist. Across the Missouri River and just west of Mobridge, on a bluff overlooking Lake Oahe, lies the grave of Sitting Bull, marked by a large granite bust of the Sioux chief. And nearby is a monument to Sacagawea, the Shoshone guide who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their expedition to the Pacific Coast. Lake Oahe, a reservoir of the Missouri River, holds an abundance of fish of many types, but is particularly known as a top spot for walleye fishing.
