West Whitlock Recreation AreaWest Whitlock Recreation Area in Gettysburg, SD was once a popular area amongst the Arikara and Mandan Native Americans. Now the park is a modern vacation spot attracting a myriad of visitors to its shores on the glorious Lake Oahe Reservoir. West Whitlock Recreation Area accommodates a variety of activities including boating, fishing, water skiing, diving, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and hiking. Water sports enthusiasts will be enamored by its pristine waters and anglers can never get enough of the variety of sport fish available here. The replica of an Arikara earth lodge on site is reminiscent of the many encountered by the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The campground hosts 100 sites, 87 with electric hook-ups, and two cabins (each sleeps four). Showers and clean water are provided. One of the camp sites is handicap accessible.
